This Woodpecker has been found throughout the whole extent of the Himalayas, but is comparatively rare in the South-east. I did not myself procure it at Darjeeling, although it has been obtained there (TC Jerdon-1862). Remarkable for the slender form of its bill (E Blyth-1845).
